My name is Cosmin Garlesteanu, I am 32 years old and I live in Bucharest, Romania. I studied Economy but I didn't work for one day in the field. I have been taking pictures for about ten years now, but I took up street photography two years ago.
In my free time, I like to go to the mountains and climb, do sport and listen to good music. And of course, to shoot street.
Before telling you about what I am doing, I would like to say a few words on photography.
I don't think there is a better remedy than photography for the soul and the mind, as it brings a rupture of the barriers and everything that seems ordinary.
When I was a child, my father used to tell me stories. He invented them on the way. I think that even now I like to dream and I believe through photography it's the best way one can do that. Photography made me more human, more transparent and more aware of what is happening around me. More present and more open minded. I think you start reacting to whatever it's going on around you the minute you give importance and start caring about the moment itself. You don't even have to press the shutter. Sometimes it's enough if you are a witness, a part of the moment.
I am lucky to live in a city where there is always something going on. People are quite relaxed but also unforseeable, and that helps me when composing my shots.
I am attracted especially by compositions that have a message or impact, but especially by candid moments. I am still working hard on these last ones, but it is not easy at all.
A friend told me that I will soon get over the stage of impact shots. It might be so... Anyway, I apreciate critique, if it's constructive. In the street I also follow humorous situations. We need humor in our lives in order to be more creative.
I follow photographers who take different shots than I do or who think different than me when composing and taking a photograph.
I always struggle and fight with everything that my vision involves and I am constantly dissatisfied with my images. I am working on this matter as well.
